Installing Toothbrush Chargers on a Tiled Bathroom Wall – Precision Electrical Work in Banbury

Recently, we were asked to install two toothbrush chargers onto a tiled bathroom wall at a property near Banbury. While it may sound straightforward, drilling into porcelain or ceramic tiles without causing damage requires patience, precision and the correct tools.

Careful Planning Before Installation

Before any drilling began, we carefully planned the positioning of the toothbrush chargers to ensure they were practical for the customer while also keeping the finished look neat and symmetrical.

Bathrooms can be one of the trickiest areas to work in due to:

  • Existing pipework hidden within walls
  • Delicate and expensive tiles
  • Limited installation space
  • Electrical safety requirements within bathroom zones

As a NAPIT registered electrician, all work is carried out in line with current electrical regulations to ensure installations remain safe and compliant.

Stitch Drilling Tiles Without Damage

One of the most important parts of this installation was avoiding damage to the customer’s tiled wall.

Porcelain tiles in particular can crack very easily if drilled incorrectly or too aggressively. Instead of rushing the process, we used a careful stitch drilling method to gradually create the required opening without placing excess stress on the tiles.

This method allows for:

  • Cleaner finishes
  • Reduced risk of cracking
  • Greater precision
  • Minimal disruption to surrounding tiles

The customer was understandably concerned about damaging the bathroom finish, so taking the extra time to complete the work carefully was essential.

Neat Wiring & Professional Finish

Once the openings had been prepared, the toothbrush chargers were installed neatly onto the wall with concealed wiring and a clean finish.

At L J Mullan Electrical, we believe attention to detail matters. Even smaller electrical jobs should look professional once completed.

We regularly carry out:

  • Bathroom electrical upgrades
  • Additional sockets
  • Shaver sockets
  • Mirror supplies
  • LED lighting upgrades
  • Extractor fan installations
  • Decorative lighting installations

Many customers across Banbury, Brackley, King’s Sutton, Bodicote and surrounding villages contact us for smaller electrical works that larger companies may not prioritise.

Dust Control & Clean Working

Another important part of the installation was keeping dust and mess to a minimum while working inside the customer’s home.

Using professional dust extraction equipment allowed us to complete the drilling work cleanly and efficiently while reducing airborne dust throughout the bathroom area.

We understand customers appreciate tradespeople who respect their home, especially when working in newly renovated bathrooms or finished living spaces.
